I am an interior designer, storyteller, die-hard do-it-yourselfer, wife and mother.
I believe your house should tell your story. That’s what makes it your home.
For many years, I told stories on a TV screen as an award-winning anchor and reporter. I was a weekend warrior– working full time during the week, then flexing my creative muscles on my home, designing spaces, and working on projects during my down time. After having my little girl, Ruby, I found my priorities shifting. I ached to be able to rock her to sleep each night rather than report on the day’s news at 10 o’clock. And while I was on maternity leave, I realized just how dysfunctional my home was, and I set out to fix it.
I fearlessly rolled up my sleeves and dove head first into every project I could get my hands on. I learned as much as I could by taking classes, reading, and through good old-fashioned trial and error. I now walk into a space or spot a sad sofa and only see what it can become. My husband Jon and I are now remodeling our fourth home together, a 70’s mid-century ranch, room by room. I’m passionate about creating a beautiful home that reflects who you are, how you want to live, and makes your life as simple as possible.
Want to tackle your home but aren’t sure where to start? That’s where I can help. I inspire you through video and print tutorials, walk you through designing a beautiful space, and interview industry pros. I want to give you the courage and know-how to build a great space, whether you’re a novice or not. I hope I make you feel like you can take on the world. I find such satisfaction in figuring things out, in doing things myself, and in breathing new life into a room or piece of furniture. You don’t need to spend a gazillion dollars to build a beautiful home. You just need a little help to get you started. You’ll be surprised how much you can do.
What I love most is making a room sentimental, special, functional, and beautiful. I believe your home should be a place where you feel most like yourself—where you’re most comfortable, most inspired, and most at peace. Bring in the sentimental. Show a little quirk. Forget the catalog and instead create a house that reflects your personal and unique style. If it’s special to you, it should be a part of your home.
Create a house with soul. Build a space with spirit. Live in a home with HEART.
